Vaccination Requirements:
FolkMADS has chosen to change our COVID policy based on community feedback, venue policies, and current public health recommendations. Santa Fe and Bernalillo counties have both had low case rates for many months and our venues have dropped their vaccine requirements. Therefore for our regular dances we have chosen to remove the vaccine requirement, as of June 1, 2023.
Dancer Guidelines:
- Please check the website or Facebook group before coming to a dance, for the most current dance status (see below for these guidelines).
- Please stay home if you have any symptoms of any illness–including “allergies” or a runny nose as COVID-19 often begins with even the most mild symptoms among vaccinated individuals.
- We encourage (but do not require) people to take a rapid test before attending, especially if they may have been exposed.
Masking Guidelines:
FolkMADS uses the CDC’s COVID Community Levels to inform masking protocols for local weekly dances and events. As COVID variants continue to evolve, these community levels of risk is our best assessment of the rate of spread and risk taken on by dancers, volunteers, bands, and callers.
If Community Levels are in GREEN / LOW: In-person dancing is able to continue without restrictions, at the discretion of local dance committees, based on caller and band availability and weekly dance attendance.
If Community Levels are in YELLOW / MEDIUM: In-person dancing can continue, and FolkMADS strongly recommends (but does not require) wearing a mask while attending a dance.
If Community Levels are in RED / HIGH: Masks are required. Rapid tests are recommended, but not required, especially if you feel you’ve been exposed.
Requirements for each dance are dictated by the status of the county that the event is taking place. For example, if Bernalillo County is in YELLOW and Santa Fe County is in RED, masks will only be required at the Santa Fe dance.
If you come down with COVID and have attended a dance within a 7 day period, please email folkmads@gmail.com so we can conduct contact tracing.
